Welcome to MTPA's UK new and improved monthly newsletter. We have a lot of exciting news to share with you..

2017 finished in fantastic fashion with December arrivals to Mauritius from the UK over 20% up on the previous year, meaning we ended the year with an overall increase of 6% against 2016. We are delighted with this result with Mauritius experiencing positive growth in numbers yet again, also resulting in the UK becoming the second largest inbound tourism market to the island for the first time.

As we enter the 50th Anniversary Year of Independence, there has never been a better time to send your customers to Mauritius and we hope to keep the momentum going to continue to showcase the island as a key destination for UK holidaymakers. We'd like to thank everyone in the industry for their continued efforts and achievements in selling Mauritius and we hope that our newly designed monthly newsletter continues to inform and educate you on all the fantastic product news associated with the island in this big celebratory year of ours. Please see this month's news below.

Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort

The Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort Executive Chef Geert-Jan Vaartjes has revealed an innovative Saturday evening garden-to-table dining experience at the resort in the south of the island. Guests are welcomed at The Plantation Club colonial-style restaurant. After they enjoy a welcome cocktail, the resort's gardener shows them the vegetable garden. Taking advice from the gardener, guests pick an assortment as ingredients for their dinner.

The guests then sit back on the handmade rustic wooden tables outdoors and enjoy impromptu Mauritian creole light bites, as Chef goes to work using traditional utensils such as old-style cauldrons and wooden ladles. The meal is prepared on a wood fire.
