As the days get shorter and winter approaches, it can only mean one thing. World Travel Market is just around the corner! This month we have been busy preparing for the flagship trade industry event of the year and look forward to seeing our industry partners and colleagues at the show on the Mauritius stand AS500, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of independence for Mauritius in 2018.

Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel's 25th anniversary

Last June was the 25th anniversary celebration of Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel managed by Attitude Hotels since 2012. It was a good occasion to recall the hotel's history since its creation and to specially thank the 9 Family Members whose faithfulness and experience for the last 25 years have contributed to the daily well-being of the hotels guests.

La Pirogue

La Pirogue, one of the first hotels on the west coast of Mauritius, re-opened its doors after completion of the final phase of renovation of its rooms, restaurants, bars and public areas in boho-chic style, a style reminiscent of the era in which the hotel was built.

Virginie Koenig, the interior designer redesigned the rooms and public areas by using a large degree of sustainable materials which is in line with Sun Resorts ecological program, whereas the well-known Mauritian Architect Alistair Macbeth overlooked the structural additions in the public areas and the new restaurants.

La Pirogue now boasts new culinary offers with Wolmar, the main restaurant, Magenta, the Seafood restaurant, Coconut Café and also the three restaurants of its next-door sister hotel Sugar Beach. Guests can experience live entertainment and music for every mood performed by the hotels house DJ in our newly renovated Le Morne Beach Bar.

The Oberoi

One has to be at the resort to understand that between 5pm and 6:30pm, a large portion of the guests are at The Bar or on the Main Beach watching the "Orange Ball" go down over the horizon.

The hotel created one more place for them to view this daily phenomenon by relocating the swing to the beachfront at an elevated position so they can view the sunset and capture picture postcard moments at the "sunset swing".

The Oberoi eagerly look forward to welcoming guests to the “Sunset Coast” of Mauritius.

Embarking on its Platinum 70th Anniversary, Outrigger Hotels and Resorts has announced that the iconic hospitality brand will offer a full year of celebrations, promotions and giveaways - starting with Founders Day on Sept. 29, 2017.

On Friday 29th September at sunset, the Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort hosted a Founders Day Manager's Reception in honour of the day that Roy and Estelle Kelley opened their first hotel in Waikiki in 1947.

Along with complimentary refreshments, Hawaiian snacks and a decadent celebratory cake for all in-house guests, the event also featured delicious, golden brown waffles - just like Estelle used to make for her guests - as well as fun prize drawings for attendees such as local rums and branded giveaways. Guests also had photo opportunities with cut-outs of Roy and Estelle.

Sega Tours

Sega Tours is pleased to inform that its new Fly n Drive programme for Mauritius is now available on its professional corner. This programme gives guests the chance to move to each part of the island in a self-drive car. During their short stay in each village and en-route, they will explore parts of the country that are off the average tourist's itinerary. The idea is that, in around one week, guest enjoys some sights and gains some insights that the average passenger would miss on a regular excursion, and also to come into closer contact with the local community. The use of a GPS is to be avoided so as to better appreciate the experience of driving in Mauritius!
