Peru is a destination that has always evoked strong and dramatic imagery - the Incas, the Amazon, the Andes, the mighty condor, and Lima, "the City of the Kings" and former colonial capital of the Spanish New World. Indeed, there are few countries on Earth that can provide such a scintillating blend of history, culture, landscape and wildlife under one flag.

New Visiting Hours for Machu Picchu

From July 1 onwards, there will be two schedules for tourists wishing to visit Machu Picchu. This measure was taken to help regulate the flow of tourists and create a more organised experience for the tourist at the site. As of July 1st tourists will be able to access the ruins from 6am to 12pm and from 12:30pm to 5:30pm. Tourists who had purchased their tickets in advance will still be able to visit the historic site without any problems, but they should still consider this new time schedule for when they will visit.
Peru is first country in Latin America to host world’s most extreme marathon

In November Peru will become the first Latin American country to host the prestigious Marathon Des Sables, one of the world’s most extreme races.

More than 300 international elite runners will gather for the race to be held between Nasca and Paracas dunes over the course of 6 days for a distance of approximately 250km. The race sees runners endure some of the harshest conditions (including temperatures of more than 50 degrees) while carrying their equipment and food for the duration of the whole race.

Peru’s hosting of this incredible race only enhances its image as a fantastic destination for adventure and extreme sports.
